Sarah Paulson will join the previously announced Linda Lavin in Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway premiere of Donald Margulies' Collected Stories, directed by Lynne Meadow. The production will begin performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 6 and open on April 28, 2010.
Lavin will star as Ruth Steiner, a celebrated New York author with a dry wit and a distinguished career, who shares the stage with a bright-eyed young protégé, Lisa Morrison (Paulson). As their relationship evolves and the line between fact and fiction starts to blur, their fascinating story comes to an explosive conclusion.
Paulson recently starred in Still Life at the MCC Theatre. She appeared on Broadway in The Glass Menagerie and The Sisters Rosensweig and off-Broadway in The Gingerbread House, Crimes of the Heart, Killer Joe and Talking Pictures. Her film credits include The Spirit, The Notorious Bettie Page, Down with Love, What Women Want, The Other Sister, Swimmers and Diggers. Her TV credits include her Golden Globe-nominated performance in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as well as Cupid, Leap of Faith, Deadwood, Path to War and Jack and Jill.
The design team for Collected Stories includes Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design) and Obadiah Eaves (sound design).
